TAMAN RIMBA KIARA
Welcome to this volunteer-driven website, created to share the beauty and wonder of Taman Rimba Kiara, one of the loveliest green parks in Kuala Lumpur.
This decades-old park is part of the larger Bukit Kiara green lung, and is a designated public open space under the Kuala Lumpur City Draft Plan 2020. It has offered sanctuary, restoration and peace to its many visitors over the years, and continues to be one of the best-frequented green spaces in KL City. As part of the contiguous green lung within Bukit Kiara, it is an important location for wildlife, especially birds. There are more than 40 recorded species of birds within Taman Rimba Kiara (including hornbills and Brahminy kites), almost all of which are categorized as Totally Protected species.
Taman Rimba Kiara is extremely popular with families, schools, weddings, companies and groups from all walks of life who come to the park for picnics, outings, team-building, group activities, runs, cycles, photography, nature appreciation, selfies & wefies, among other things.
This wonderful park has been in the news over the last few years for unfortunate reasons, however.
There are plans to build a huge development on part of the existing Taman Rimba Kiara footprint. These plans, if approved by DBKL, will in all likelihood degrade and destroy Taman Rimba Kiara in an irreversible way. We invite you to look at the information posted here, and to consider doing your part to support the continued preservation & protection of Taman Rimba Kiara for the benefit of our children and generations to come.
BREAKING NEWS:
18 April 2023: In a landmark ruling, the Federal Court upheld an earlier decision by the Court of Appeal quashing the development order for a Taman Rimba Kiara condo project. Major victory for residents of TTDI and surrounding areas against overdevelopment and destruction of public park.
